ARTIST'S CV

Emily Janowick (USA, b. Murray, KY) builds monumental sculptures and architecturally-curious installations that interrogate what is expected or seem inevitable. Her work offers the opportunity to observe how reality is constructed, revealing its potential to change, grow or rot.

Janowick received a BFA from the University of Tennesse (Knoxville, TN) in 2013, an MFA from Hunter College (New York, NY) in 2019, and was an Ellen Battell Stoeckel fellow at Yale Norfolk (Norfolk, CT) in 2012. Janowick has held solo exhibitions at Kate Werble Gallery, (New York, NY), Foyer Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), International Waters (Brooklyn, NY), Parent Company (New York, NY), and will present a solo exhibition at the Richard and Dolly Maass Gallery at Purchase College (Purchase, NY) in the fall of 2026. Their work has been exhibited at venues including North Loop West (Los Angeles, CA), Foreign and Domestic (New York, NY), International Objects (Brooklyn, NY), A.I.R. Gallery (Brooklyn, NY) and Ortega y Gasset (Brooklyn, NY).

Janowick’s work has been reviewed in the New York Times, Artnews, Artnet news, and Hyperallergic, among others. She was a 2025 artist in residence at Storm King Art Center (New Windsor, NY), and 2026 Windgate artist in residence at Purchase College (Purchase, NY). Janowick lives and works in Queens, New York.
